Trisquel 12 Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
I’m currently running Trisquel 11.0.1 without any issues, and I’d like to update to Trisquel 12, but running the new system from a bootable USB drive, I encounter 2 problems.
(1) I cannot connect to the Internet: the new system does not recognise my Ethernet connection via an adapter.
(2) There is a black frame around most windows, such as the file manager.
Follow this step-by-step (with screenshots):
Click on Trisquel Menu > System > Control Center.
Now open MATE Tweak > Windows > Window manager.
Probably "Marco (built-in: Xpresent)" is selected.
Now select "Marco (No compositor)".
After choose again "Marco (built-in: Xpresent)".
It worked on my Trisquel 12 Live USB.
Thanks icarolongo! When I tried version 12 on a Live USB, I also got the black border in the window. I'll keep your information in mind when I update to version 12.

Do you mean a USB Ethernet adapter? That would be at least two USB devices plugged in, and that may confuse the live system. You could try unplugging the Ethernet adapter, start the live system and plug the adapter back when the system is running.

Regarding my Ethernet connection, it is now recognised, even though I didn't do anything differently; perhaps it was a glitch.
