Menu misbehaves after updating or adding/removing software

Okay, this one has been bothering me for a while now. Sometimes, after updating the system, or installing or removing software, some of the selections in the main menu have "scroll buttons" on them, as if there wasn't enough room on the screen to display the whole list. They return to normal if you access the menu a second time. I have included some screenshots to show what I mean.

This bug occurs in Slaine as well.

Trisquel 4.0 reaches End of Life on April 2013, so probably this issue won't be fixed for that version.

I can't reproduce this in Trisquel 6.0.
