Trisquel Welcome Screen - Feedback & Maintenance
Hello everyone!I'm working on a prototype for a native, lightweight Welcome Screen for Trisquel GNU/Linux libre.
I using Bash + YAD. Attached are two screenshots of the interface.
Along with the app, I think it would be very helpful to include offline documentation. This guide would explain to new users why certain Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or graphics hardware doesn't work out-of-the-box due to proprietary firmware/blobs, and how to find compatible alternatives.
What do you think? I am fully committed to maintaining and updating both the software and the offline documentation if the community finds it useful.Looking forward to your feedback!

Thanks, that looks interesting. Is the intention that this would pop up at the first time a user opens a graphical session and at every session start until the user selects "Do not display this screen anymore" and then perhaps could be displayed again when pressing some help icon?
This made me notice that there is a help icon in the default menu, but it is a little bit hidden as it is under "System", the contents are only about the desktop environment, it has no screen captures and on my system in French there are several paragraphs in English.
Exactly! The screen will pop up at every system boot until the user checks 'Do not display this screen again', which is standard behavior for welcome screens.
The goal is to guide the user with helpful links and showcase the main applications in the system. The sky's the limit on what cool features we can implement!
Also, thanks for pointing out the issues with the current help docs and translations that's definitely something a dedicated welcome screen and offline guide can help improve.
