Revolt (Matrix Chat client) not working after upgrade to Trisquel 12 Ecne
I have just upgraded to Trisquel 12 Ecne using Software Updater. The upgrade went smoothly, just as it did when upgrading from 10 to 11.
All upgraded programs work without any issues, except for Revolt. The window appears, but it either gets stuck on "loading" or it shows nothing. From what I can tell the program is just a browser disguised as desktop application as it is tagged as "Safari on Linux" in the clients/devices section. It seems like the login to the server was successful, but some error is preventing the (HTML) elements from displaying. The GTK menu is still accessible though.
I've purged and reinstalled the program without success. From another device, I signed out the Revolt session, which brought me to the login screen. However, after logging in successfully it got stuck again on "loading"/showing nothing.
Any ideas how to fix this? I would try to delete the config folder but I couldn't find it in the usual places.

Could this be a problem on the Revolt side? The status page currently says "Degraded performance".
You could try logging in through the web client and see if it is any better there.
In the Trisquel 12 repository there are three Matrix clients: NeoChat, nheko and gomuks.
Icedove (Trisquel's rebranded Thunderbird) can act as a barebone Matrix client too. It shows no image.

It seems the status page has been saying that since February :O Also, it's highly unlikely since I was logged on using Revolt on Trisquel 11 right before I upgraded to 12.

I tried other clients like NeoChat and Nheko, but didn't like them, partly due to being based on Qt. Anyhow, I ended up installing Element via PPA so I guess I'm stuck with that for now. Moreover, Revolt has been rebranded to Stoat -- hopefully that gets reflected on the Trisquel repo.
For what it's worth, I was able to screenshot the browser console from within Revolt. I couldn't dig deeper as the screen turns blank after a couple of seconds.
They received a cease and desist to the effect that "revolt" had to be renamed "stoat":

However, the login page still says "Sign into Revolt", so the rebranding has obviously not been completed yet. No sure what Trisquel could do about it.
