Netinst installation troubles when downloading first package: bash corrupt
Hi! I tried a netinst installation on a fairly normal x86 server using the ecne netinst ISO on a USB stick. Everything works fine up until it starts installation (debootstrap) when it complains that downloading bash_5.2.21-2ubuntu4trisquel1_amd64.deb was corrupt. I tried several mirrors and both http and https but same error on all of them. Network seems fine otherwise. Any ideas? Can anyone complete a netinst x86 installation right now? Maybe there is something wrong with the archive mirroring. I tried archive.trisquel.info too.
Thanks! Will retry. What is the proper fix here? Archive problem? Or we need new netinst ISO image?
Interesting. Let me check if I can reproduce the error.
This looks quite relevant:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2026/09/msg00006.html
https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2026/09/msg00010.html
So it seems like an upstream debootstrap bug.
It is indeed the right clue. Taking a look.
Fixed by version 1.0.134ubuntu2trisquel8
Cheers!
Thank you! Is that a new debootstrap version? Will the old ISO netinst image still work, and download an update before invoking debootstrap? I will try it!
Indeed a new netinstall should be released. I'll push that in a few, please find it at:
https://builds.trisquel.org/debian-installer-images/
While it makes it on the official website.
Also you need to pick a mirror that already has the change.
So, this issue was a 2 parts issue. It should be fixed with the latest base-installer but it will take sometime to push it. Our riscv node is busy with glibc, so it will take some time before it's up.
Regards
Got it. I can confirm that the issue is still in process to be fixed, since I got the same error again today. Thank you for your work.
It's working now. Thanks ark74
