Hello to everyone.
In your opinion would be possible to install Trisquel on tablet Mediatek ZL10 with these specs?
Model N° ZL10
chipset MEDIATEK MT6582
ARM-A7 @1,3GHz, 4 cores processor
internal storage 64GB
RAM 4GB
OS: Android 7.0, kernel version : 3.4.67
build N°: ALPS.KK1.MP1:V2.36
personalized build version: ZL10V1.2_B_CPT_40PIN_GT_V0.1_20181129
Or should I hammer it and then go to the dump?
Thanks for the attention.
As indicated here https://naijarom.com/alps-zl10 and here https://spflashtools.com/category/linux
could SP Flash Tool for Linux allow to install Trisquel? There is also a tutorial.
I don't think this is possible as Trisquel is now. It may be possible in theory with enough reverse engineering work, but I don't think anyone has done that for this chipset.
If you want more technical information, the postmarketOS project has a page for this chipset: https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/MediaTek_MT6582
postmarketOS ships nonfree software, but my understanding is that a lot of low-level free software development happens in the postmarketOS community. You would probably find more knowledgeable people in the #foss-mt65xx:nope.chat Matrix room (linked from the wiki page).
Even though you probably can't run Trisquel on that device yet, I think it's better not to destroy it. You could give it to someone else who might want to use it, either to a friend or through a place like a Goodwill thrift store.
