I will continue working on a wireless VR headset running Trisquel GNU/Linux

My plan to build a Fully Freedom-Respecting VR Headset is making slow progress. I have chosen Trisquel GNU/Linux as the default OS and I also want to support the Guix System. The tracking part is mosty done, I have chosen libsurvive here. The hardest part will be picking a processor that can be used in a product with a possible Respects Your Freedom Certification.

Next month I will go to Chemnitz Linux Days and do a talk Virtual Reality with DIY-Hardware (German: Virtual Reality mit Eigenbau-Hardware). Currenty there are multiple projects in that space and I have decided to pick and mix the best ones. My main computer is based on the Freedom-Respecting Talos II and cannot run non-free games and middleware. But I also plan to enable Rockchip devices based on the RK3399. For next year I plan to do a talk at FOSDEM but for now I am preparing for: https://chemnitzer.linux-tage.de/2026/en/programm/beitrag/153

I also created a chat room for my project, which I call LibreVR. Instead of Discord I picked Spacebar which is copylefted free software under the GNU AGPL. The chat room is currenty empty so I am inviting anyone to join. Most other projects use Discord which I do not like. So I picked Spacebar with Fermi: https://fermi.chat/channels/1156858394643788404/1156858394710897271
